The inaugural weekend of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Vios Challenge Malaysia started off challenging with heavy rain coming down at the Batu Kawan race track in Penang. With many of the racers being first time participants of a race event, the torrential rain was seen as a baptism of sorts, making their first race even more memorable due to the harsh conditions.
The races took place later that afternoon to the delight of a crowd close to 11,000 people who showed up in full force to show their support at the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival. The highly anticipated Promotional and Sporting Categories races were fueled with action-packed instances on the tracks that led to a couple of racers having to retire from the race.
The eventful first day came to a close, leaving everyone excited for day 2 of the TGR Racing Festival.
The scorching sun was out in full force on the 2nd day, with the weather condition set the precedence for an even more exhilarating day for race drivers to push their Vios Challenge cars to the limit. The opening ceremony gave spectators the opportunity to walk around the starting grid for photos with all the Vios Challenge race cars and their drivers, providing an unforgettable live motorsports experience for everyone.
Racing fans who came back for day 2 of races were definitely not disappointed as the Promotional Category was once again action packed with close battles between the local celebrities. The Sporting and Super Sporting Categories then kept fans at the edge of their seats, with more thrills further down the race track between more experienced drivers engaged in spectacular battles to the podium.
The turn-out of the 2-day event saw over 28,000 enthusiastic racing fans coming to the festival, witnessed not only spectacular racing but also an amazing array of activities that provided fun for the whole family.
